SolarClean Concentrated Solar Panel Cleaner

SolarClean (ECS 101) is a concentrated cleaning solution for solar panels, greenhouses and building exteriors. It removes dirt and grime from finished surfaces without leaving a dull film or residue and prepares surfaces for ECS 5001 SolarRestore or ECS 5003 SolarProtect.

Manufactured in the USA, SolarClean can be used as a cleaning service on its own or as the preparation step in a cleaning and coating system.

Where SolarClean Fits

The product documents identify glass, plastic, rubber, coated and metal surfaces as intended surface types. Review the surface condition and the equipment manufacturer’s care requirements before use.

  • Routine removal of dirt and grime
  • Surface preparation before SolarRestore or SolarProtect
  • Solar panel, greenhouse and exterior surface cleaning

For installers and cleaning contractors, SolarClean provides the cleaning step before offering an additional protective-coating service.

Dilution and Application

Mix 0.5 fluid ounce of SolarClean concentrate per gallon of clean water.

  1. Prefer a cool surface where practical. Remove oils and other contaminants, then rinse away loose dirt and grime.
  2. Mix the concentrate with ambient-temperature clean water at the published dilution.
  3. Wash using a sponge, terry cloth or mitt. For large surfaces, the application instructions allow spraying the solution followed by wiping.
  4. Rinse the surface, then immediately dry with a soft terry cloth or chamois. If air drying, rinse water must be clean and mineral-free.
  5. When preparing for ECS 5001 or ECS 5003, allow the surface to dry and aim to apply the coating within 24 hours after cleaning. For ECS 5003 SolarProtect, this may extend to a maximum of three days if the weather stays rain-free and panels remain clean. Remove any new contamination before coating.

Coverage, Storage and Handling

The application instructions estimate approximately 200 to 300 ft² per gallon of mixed cleaning solution at the published dilution. Actual use depends on the surface condition and cleaning method.

Shelf life is one year in the original unopened container. Keep containers closed and labeled, and store in a cool, ventilated location away from extreme heat and moisture.

Read the SDS for complete handling guidance. Avoid eye contact and breathing spray mist; use appropriate splash protection when handling concentrate. Contain concentrated spills and prevent large concentrated releases to surface waters.
